Advantages
Ozone is extremely effective due to its rapid reaction and strong irritant and disinfectant values. Ozone gas is very effective as a disinfectant and is stronger and more productive compared to chlorine. Due to the intensity of ozone, the gas needs to be diluted to a concentration of about 5% this means that a little will go a long way. When using ozone no chemicals are added to the water and the gas quickly breaks down (amount of time can vary depending on pH level of water) which means that it won't have any effect on the surrounding water.
Disadvantages
Although ozone is highly effective there are also hazards that go with it. Ozone gas is an oxidizer which means that it may cause or intensify a fire. Additionally, there are also health hazards from the use of ozone, these include skin, eye and respiratory irritation, as well as other effects when inhaled. However these are only caused when in high intensity and Obot will use a concentration of approximately 5% so the risk of these repercussions are highly unlikely. Therefore it is important that when handling ozone precautions are made, for example ozone shouldn't be stored in places with fires or where there are high risks of fires starting. Ozone should also not be put in contact with the body, this can be done by wearing gloves, masks,etc. however it can also be combatted by always having ozone in low concentrations and making sure it is stored safely so it will not leak and contaminate the air.
